As a nation, we should join hands and pray
Tammy's thoughts echo my feelings - it is a very sad day when anyone loses their life, but the loss of so many innocent children and adults at one time is heartbreaking.
I am joining in with Tammy to pray for the victims' loved ones.
I have spent the better part of today as likely you have as well profoundly sad and choking back tears. I am saddened at the loss of life and the loss of innocence of so many young lives.
The why, the how, even the who just doesn't matter to me. It can not be undone. Like other times in our history I find it hard to breathe, hard to smile and find nothing remotely funny.
I was trying to remember a time back in the 80s or maybe very early 90s which is the first school shooting that I could remember hearing about on the news. So I went to Google and what I found was shocking and horrific. The first school shooting occurred in American in 1764. This was the 127th time in our nations history this has occurred.
I don't know what the right answer is, I do however know that it's not political and right now is not the time we should be screaming about gun control. We should join hands as a nation and pray for the children in our country. We should pray for the safety of those officers and first responders who run toward these tragic events while others are running from them. We should pray for the families of those who died today. We should pray for those who survived.
I know that parents will hold their children closer and that our hearts bleed for those who cannot hold their children tonight. I know that lives have been altered and changed and innocence lost.
I can only offer thoughts of hearts that will heal and prayer. It's all I know to do. And I know you will join me in that sentiment.
