City of San Antonio makes Grants Availble for restoring Historic Homes!

By
Real Estate Agent with First Texan Realty

Up to $65,000 Available per Unit for Owner-Occupied Historic Rehabilitation

The purpose of the program is to promote and encourage the retention, preservation and restoration of locally designated historic districts and landmarks as well as architecturally significant structures that have been identified as being eligible for historic designation by assisting low to moderate income property owners with their restoration and rehabilitation projects through a combination of grants and loans.

This program is not designed to assist in the everyday maintenance of historic properties, but to encourage and aid restoration and preservation efforts which might otherwise be considered economically infeasible.

Funds must be used for the preservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of historic properties and structures as described in the following definition:“Historic Property” means any local individually landmarked building, structure or site or any building, structure or site located within a historic district.

The maximum subsidy per unit for this program is $65,000.

Cynthia, this is a great program for San Antonio and with incentives like that it would give individuals the push they may need to consider restoring some grand old homes in need of rehabilitation.  Well done, San Antonio!
