Being Sick

By
Services for Real Estate Pros

sickI've been really sick since the first of the year....my first real day out was for Jury Duty this past week and then I was so exhausted I came home and went to bed.  My honey had whatever I had in a lighter form...he got a flu shot, I didn't (BAD me!)....He was sick 4 days....I'm entering my 4th week, although except for tiredness and a lack of being able to talk I don't feel sick anymore.  I actually cleaned house on Saturday, got out and did all my grocery shopping (which hadn't been touched since last year), got some other minor things done too.  Today I sat and vegged....I was exhausted again.

Gads the older I get it seems the flu hits me harder.  On top of it when the spouse gets sick neither one feels up to cooking or running out for food so you just don't eat....this doesn't help the condition.  I did get the doctor to order me some anti-biotics which did absolutely no good but empty my wallet of a few $$$$.  He then determined I have walking pneumonia...and ordered more rest, and eating correctly.....yeah right, here we go again on the food problem and being sick.  Next year in December I'm going to make up some dinners ahead and freeze them in meal size portions....grab and nuke.  We've gotten sick in January both last year and this year.

A phone call from a loved one is a real picker-upper when sick.  Both #2 son and #1 daughter called us several times a week to see how we were doing.  They are 300 miles away....but a voice cheers people up tremendously.

Life goes on...we're both starting to get back to normal (whatever that is)...real estate is calling for me, hubby's commitments are calling and we're feeling good enough to at least get our feet wet!  Promising each other not to overdo it!  This week I have a professional standards class at the GLVAR that I must attend. for the time bing I'm putting listers/buyers on an e-mail drip system (temporary patch)

Hi Mary:  I am so sorry you have been sick for so long.  I had something that sounds quite similar to your illness in early November.  It pretty much lasted the whole month, and took several rounds of antibiotics to take care of it.  Keep up the the chicken soup !  Hope you feel better soon.

Sorry you were sick.  I have not taken the flu shot either.  I have a fear of the needle. Get well.

Mary- Have you been to the doctor?  Both of my kids were feeling the same way...very run down, sleeping all of the time...a cough and fever.  I took them in to the doctor and they had MONO.  I know that has been going around as well as the flu.  Feel better!

Mary - please take care of yourself.  It sounds like the same "bug" is making its rounds here also.  Hubby sick for 2 weeks now, and I got socked with it and ended up in the hospital for 2 days because I couldn't breath well. Still sluggish, can't wait for the energy to come back.

::hugs::   Feel better soon hon.

It doesn't take much to make the body need a complete overhaul.  A few days of fever and the body practically collapses.  I believe it's a defense mechanism that says "you need rest".  Get a good day's rest.

"REWIND".  Then you have to start all over again.  Slowly.  One task at a time.  Let the body get back to 100% about 10% at a time.

It works.  Trying to force a body to do what it doesn't want to or isn't ready to do will just set you back more.

Get better.  Smile.  That always helps.

Mary, I hope you get to feeling better soon. I didn't get a flu shot this year either so you are making me feel a little paranoid.  I have a cold but so far just a cold.  It sounds like you are on the mend though.

Mary...Here's to many healthy days from this day forward!  For hubby too.

I have Fibromyalgia and Chronic Kidney Disease, both of which take a toll on me each day so I understand how you feel when you are totally worn out.

Do you get flu shots and have you had a pneumonia shot?  If not, please do.

Take care.

Cheers,

Kathleen

Mary, As they say; Be well, live well and live longest! I know the flu gets going around every year there, and you do live in somewhat of an International City. Folks come there from all over the world. So, if anyone is going to get exposed to it, well it would definitely be those living in Las Vegas. Still in a way it is good to keep the immune system strong, those who never are exposed sometimes do not fair well. Lance

Mary, I had the same thing!  Right after the holidays, I was sick for about 2 weeks.  I was flat on my back for 3 days, which is not like me at all!  I haven't been that sick in about 10 years.

Mary,

I hope you feel better very soon.  I had it too this year and it is the pits.  I really enjoy reading your blog by the way.  I especially liked your entry on going paperless.

Feel better soon!

Mary, so sorry to hear you've been ill. It really sucks when your spouse is sick too. You just have to wait on yourself then. ;-)  Glad to hear you're better.
