This is a wonderful example from Joanna Cohlan on how a decorator can help bring a person's style to life. I met this customer a while back and her tastes are a bit eclectic. And, Joanna knew exactly how to how work with her and bring her style to life in her new home. The transformation is amazing and the customer loves her.
As a Westchester County interior decorator, I love it when I meet a client who wants to be both seen and heard.
I have had so much fun working with my New Rochelle client - she has taste, moxy and a great sense of humor and it shows - Loud and Proud - with our choices of color and furnishings. Although the project is not yet completed - window treatments, a few pieces of furniture, accessories and artwork all need to be added - I thought I'd share some of the befores and afters:
The Bedroom Before was boring and beige and the beautiful moldings receded into the walls:
The Bedroom After uses a chocolate ceiling, additional 4" high hats, a pop of BLING in the fixture and pistachio walls allowing the high gloss white moldiing to create definition:
The Dining Room Before had no personality and it's light fixtures were so predictable:
The Dining Room now is no longer an afterthought-the walls are a work of art blending classic lines with mid century modern furniture:
Before, the living room floors were sanded and refinished but the room felt cold:
After, the placement of the furniture and the custom designed rug, creates warmth and moves your eye to the property, which is why my client bought this home!
