Containing more than 18 dozen eggs and 60 pounds of flour, this 26 square foot gingerbread house, made by Jim Shalkoski is a replica of Salisbury Beach Pavilion as it was in the 1950's.
Salisbury Beach was a busy place back then with families coming from quite a distance to visit the many attractions, ride the roller coaster and enjoy the beach.
All of the ingredients are made from scratch and are edible. There are more than 42 pounds of sugar in the frosting, and two gallons of corn syrup and molasses. The gingerbread house weighs more than one hundred pounds and is decorated with more than 600 miniature lights. The house was made from the inside out, placing the miniature people on the inside. It is 5 feet wide and 6 feet tall.
Jim is a bartender at Seaglass Restaurant in Salisbury, MA, where the gingerbread house is on display in the foyer of the restaurant.
