Real Estate Wrap-up: 2012

Here's to 2013!

Since the market difficulties began (for me) in the fall of 2006 with the domino loss of 5 settlements that October, my life in Real Estate has not been smooth, to say the least. Our office fell into the practice of ringing out the old years - to get rid of them - rather than ringing in the new ones.  Each year-end gifted us the potential of a bright-shiny-hopeful-New-Year, but we chose to focus on the gray-dull-disheartening-old-years.

2012 saw a welcome increase in sales activity. Personally, my sales volumn is up 73%.  This is the first year since 2006 that I'll be making a grateful toast to the old year on December 31st, instead of sprinting into the new one without looking back.    upward graph

That being said, 2012 has not been all rosy.  Even though sales are up, there are files that didn't make it to the settlement table.  There are sellers who have not had an easy time of it, at all.  Plenty of buyers, anxious to purchase homes, remain dissatisfied tenants, without a property to call their own. Too many folks are still in default on their loans, desperate for a solution.

Thoughts turn to my fellow Realtors.  Boy, have we all weathered a long, cold, blustery storm!  Often, we remain focused on the bad business climate to the extent that we don't see the clouds parting in anticipation of the rising sun.  The increase in activity brings with it the need to tweak what we do and how we do it. Sometimes we nail it.....and our clients could not be happier!  Sometimes we stumble, but catch ourselves.  Once in awhile we fall.  We don't often acknowledge the strength that has been gained by navigating through these tough years.  Perhaps we don't even recognize the knowledge, experience and wisdom that is gained during times like these.

We become stronger, faster and better.

In my email today were these words:

"Even with practice, training, skills, and powerful affirmations, you will fail. Embrace the setback! Welcome the lesson learned from this experience! You will do EVERYTHING right and still be denied, be rejected, not make your goal, be stopped, have issues, have problems, have obstacles, and get told No. It's okay. It's all right. Just keep going. When you keep going, you will win more than you lose. Stay on the path of Mastery...

You Suck becomes...
You Try becomes...
You Finish becomes...
You Achieve becomes...
You Compete becomes...
You Win becomes...
You Excel becomes...
You Master.

To Master, Dare to Suck."  ~ Michael J. Maher, Author - 7L The Generosity Generation

At every level, you will suffer setbacks - and as Zig Ziglar says, "Every Setback is a SET-up for a ComeBACK!"

The Real Estate market in Salem County, NJ is coming back.  I am so very grateful to be here to ring in 2013 with my family, friends, neighbors, clients, customers, fellow agents and community servants.  There is much to do so it's a very good thing that we are better equipped now.

Here's to 2013!

Good  morning, Christina!  Thanks very much for suggesting....I really appreciate it!  That's funny how close our names are to each other.  I look forward to getting to know you!

Tamara, I love Zig Ziglar, too.  Have a happy day!

Good morning, Christiansen Team...thanks so much for the compliment.

Hi, Debbie.  Wow!  Your words humble me.  Thanks so much.

Michael, I have a good feeling about 2013, too.  YES!

EPIC!  Yes, Bryan!  Good word!

Lanise, I really think you'll love the book and Michael Maher who wrote it.  Best wishes for a wonderful new year!

Good morning, Charita!!!!  So nice to see you again, my friend.

Hi, Bruce.  Positivity is a GREAT force!

Ann, I began keeping a gratitude journal in 2012 as part of coaching.  It really helps to keep the proper perspective about life, I believe.

We're located in Pennsville on RT 49 across from the Riverbeach Park, Michael.  Is that how you go?  We also have an office in Elmer on RT 40.  That office sits on 3 acres of farmland.  Maybe that is the one that you pass?
