It’s no wonder with the success of sites like Pinterest, Instagram and YouTube; we see our society moving from social media to visual social media.  While blogs began to be overshadowed by Facebook and Twitter due to length, our culture is now gravitating towards even more fast paced, visual content.

Now, this isn’t to say that you shouldn’t be providing great content on your real estate blog or even smart posts on your social media sites, but for 2013, it will be the visuals that will draw people to your online presence.

In a recent article by social media consultant and founder of Socially Sorted, Donna Moritz highlighted staggering facts about visual media and ways to engage in 2013.  I thought they were worth sharing as you consider your approach to social media for the new year.

Did you know...?

- Facebook photos generate 53% more likes than the average post.

- Pinterest is now the 4th largest driver of traffic worldwide.

- Instagram passed up Twitter in August of this year for daily active mobile users.  An 8 fold increase in 6 months!

- YouTube passed 4 billion video views daily.

These facts speak for themselves!  Below are a few ways that Moritz pointed out on how you can take visual social media by storm in 2013!

1. Don’t Tell if You Can Show- Simply put: whenever possible use visuals to send your message!  Don’t know the first thing about creating strong visuals or graphics?  As your team of Real Estate Virtual Assistants, we’ll use our graphic designers to create just the images you need to get you noticed!

2. Create Original Visual Content- In a world where images are constantly repinned, you could be the 20% that boasts original content that gets pinned!  As mentioned above, you’ll need a professional graphic designer on your side, as well as being willing to learn the basics of editing in software like Photoshop to create quick images, quotes or tutorials that will draw in clients.

3. Add Back in The Words- Add back in descriptions to videos or photos you post.  You can also add calls to action as a photo overlay or key words and hashtags that will help with SEO!  You’ll also want to be sure to add a watermark or your website on original content so that you get the recognition you deserve for your work!

I know these tips were a great eye opener for me and I hope they are for you as well! If you want to learn more about taking your social media to the next level with original visual content for the new year; please contact us!  Our team of Real Estate Virtual Assistants and graphic designers are standing by!
