For years I have talked of and planned to move to the Berkshires and change my focus to more than just real estate. While my New Jersey home has yet to sell, I am nonetheless preparing to transition because this is my time to do so. I will no longer list and sell real estate as a full-time focus, although I intend to stay active in the industry by helping old and new clients alike, prepare for buying and selling by explaining the process, the market and working with top notch agents throughout the country and in Canada. I am now thinking of myself as a facilitator, adviser and coach.
In another life I was a stand up trainer for a very large governmental agency. I also taught school and was a guidance counselor. All of these experiences prepared me for real estate, and my view has always been that anything I have ever done has contributed to anything I will ever do. I have been successful in real estate, and I have helped others find their own way in the business. I am hoping to develop a strategy to be able to be involved still, and tap into my experience and skills, and clearly I know how to identify excellent agents and refer them to people who could use their services.
I have done a monthly email newsletter for years, and it has been productive and I will continue with that. I also like antiques and I am hoping to buy and sell them in my new shop above my new garage. It will be small but it will be fun and I am at a point in my life where fun is high on my list. And so I am preparing to transition. It is a little over-whelming but I know it is right for me. Samuel Clemens once said, "that nothing is so good or bad that thinking won't make it so." I believe that. A new day is coming and I am ready for it.
