Ryland,

Great article. Perhaps you can help with a nagging question of mine. I blog consistently on AR, averaging 10 posts or more per week. This will put me on page 1 or 2 of Google for a while.

Then all of the sudden ALL OF MY POSTS DISAPPEAR, with the best ranking around page 8-10. This lasts for a couple of days then things return to normal. Thoughts??

Hey Doug,

Thanks for your post.  This would be the best advice.  I wouldn't post on Active Rain.  Either get a Wordpress blog or purchase RealGeeks.com for $450 and blog on their platform.   I've noticed that the Active Rain posts just don't sustain high rankings on Google.  Some articles believe that Google has either banned Active Rain posts, deranked them, or just doesn't like Active Rain.  Google did the same type of thing to Squidoo.  Whether this is true or not, as an SEO analyst, I don't see the Active Rain posts getting frequently crawled.  The way to know for sure is to check out the Cache that the Google crawlers put up every time they crawl your site.

The great thing about Active Rain is that it gets fast exposure to local markets and its a great real estate community.  Obviously, I use Active Rain myself, but I have been doing screen shots of the content of my blog and posting the JPG files on Active Rain rather than the text content itself.

Hope that helps.

I noticed the same thing, that my AR blogs will be at the top of google searches for a few days then for one reason or other drop off. I cannot even find me on a google search for Eastvale Realtors, but I can for Eastvale frost alert or Eastvale CA Pizza's because this is what was in the text of my blog.
