New Years Eve in Nanaimo: A Night to Remember (or Not!)
Vancouver Island, British Columbia knows how to ring in the New Year properly! There are spectacular events all through the metropolitan area on New Year’s Eve. Whether you want a black tie event or to paint the town red, Nanaimo has something to fill the bill.
But if you are a parent who wants your child to enjoy ringing in the New Year without exposing her to the wilder side of the island party scene, consider bringing the whole family to Finale 2012, a family event sponsored by City of Nanaimo Parks Recreation and Culture.
Billed as the “Biggest and Best Family New Year’s Eve Party, the fun begins on Monday, December 31 from 5pm to 10 pm at the Beban Park Recreation Centre. What can the children do? More than they can imagine!
During Finale, your child can swim, skate, make crafts, play games, enjoy some beautiful face painting, and more. There will also be entertainment provided by local artists like: Jayden Holman, Footclan Dance Crew, Ian Johnstone, Aunti Bobbi, Jake West and the DDT Drumline. The whole night is focused on family friendly entertainment!
There will be two child-sized countdowns to the New Year, the first one begins at 8:00 pm for the younger children and older children can continue to play until the second New Year countdown at 10 pm.
Best of all, the City of Nanaimo Parks Recreation and Culture has made the whole affair affordable! Tickets can be purchased at any of the Recreation Centers in advance of the night. The cost for Finale 2012 is $10 for individual tickets, $25 for a family of four. Children two and under are free!
