A Candid Discussion about Christmas Lights!!!

I grew up during the 60's and 70's and there were fantastic Christmas lights. There were the GE big bulbs for outside and wonderful miniature twinkle light for the inside.  Today, we have too many LED lights that look ike an alien invasion.  The white LEDs that appear gray are particularly offensive. They have a cold, concrete feeling.  I was very sad to see the gray LED lights all over my beloved Vail, Colorado. When they are mixed with the yellow - gold bulbs, they are really gold.

I decisded to look for twinkle bulbs. I do not meant he ones that flash...I am referring to the ones that twinkle indiovidually.  I am happy to report that they are being made again.  I remeber as a child, lying on the floor and starring up at teh ceiling to watch the different colored lights twinkling on the ceiling. My sister and I set out to replace the dreams of our youth and we discovered that Phillips and other brands do make the twinkle lights again. Something old is something new again!!

For those that share in this Christmas passion, you can find the twinkle bulbs at Target and here are some links too. Twinkle lights .  There is a wholesale online store too Wholesale Twinkle Lights .There is still the option of replacing the first bulb (nearest the electrical socket) with the red tipped bulb. That will also cause the bulbs to twinkle.  So , we have options!!!

Now, if we can only get the pre-strung twinkle lights on the trees!!!

Thanks for this post.  I've always enjoyed watching the twinkling lights go on on off and watching them change the color of the lights hitting the walls make.  I have my battery operated candles this year...they act like candles, flickering and more amazing stay on for 5 hours and turn off for 19 hours everyday.
