Extreme Makeover - Home Edition New Hampshire Style

By

Well the show has aired and now all the world knows that New Hampshire rocks. Click here to view a little show.

Do you realize that New Hampshire had the most volunteers for this build than any before? Over 4500 people volunteered their time, energy, enthusiasm, money, materials and most of all their hearts to give the Voisine Family of New Hampshire a new home back in October 2007.

Mike and I volunteered a day and worked the telephones for the builders RJ Moreau in Bedford, NH.  To be a part of future makeover projects you can register at www.rjmoreau.com .

So it was only fitting to have "Giving That Gives Back" night at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH culminating with the airing of the 2 hour special on the JumboTron.

There were guest speakers including our Govenor John Lynch, several State Senators, Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, and of course the Voisine Family. There was a special film produced by the builders showing all that happened that week here in New Hampshire.

The phrase that stuck with me from this whole experience was the words spoken by Rey Voisine "these are my people". He was overwhelmed by the love and care given him and his family and cited this as his reason for staying in his Manchester, NH neighborhood.

The air was charged with the emotions of the family and volunteers as they remembered the work, the friendships forged, the appreciation for giving and the sense of community that was ignited that week.

Paula Young, Executive Director of "There's No Place Like Home" spoke about the homes being built under her leadership by several New Hampshire High Schools for families displaced by flooding not only here in NH but also in Louisiana.

Volunteerism is here to stay in New Hampshire. If you have an interest in some of the programs available that would appreciate your help go to www.rebuildingtogethernh.org or call 603-645-4787.

I just love to see people helping each other.  Thank you for doing your part.  I'm a firm believer that what comes around, goes around.  There's nothing more satifying and rewarding than helping others.

Renee - New Hampshire has surprised even me with this effort. I love this state and always have. The people are real and really care about their fellow man.

Moni - Thanks for the beautiful signature. We just came up with a new tag line for our team.

My clients liked one of the 2 we showed them and today we went back up north for a customer of Mikes. I hope we write at least one soon.

Hi Judy - I saw the show last night. It was really impressive how Manchester came together for the Voisine's, and I really liked seeing the high school students pitching in to build homes for others. What a great reflection on the importance of community!

Moni - Team Tuscano - We'll guide your family home -

what do you think? we went to Holderness up off Exit 24 Route 93. I'll check out the snow sculpture post.

John - New Hampshire as a state really pitched in for this family. Our state association of Realtors were asked and did volunteer. Our company was asked by the builder to help them with office support so we had a schedule for the week and 20 - 30 of our people signed on to help. The effort was huge but you know the saying "many hands makes the workload light". I especially like the High School students effort and plan to support this somehow. What a great way for kids to learn a trade and give back to the community.

That is cool that you were involved in this, were you on camera at all at any point?

Todd - No, I leave the cameras to the "beautiful" people. lol

Linda - The father is still so emotional about all this - he was overwhelmed by the volunteer response.

The tag line may be changed as I have been told the word "family" may be a problem with fair housing! I am so tired of political correctness. Thanks for stopping by.
