Well the show has aired and now all the world knows that New Hampshire rocks. Click here to view a little show.
Do you realize that New Hampshire had the most volunteers for this build than any before? Over 4500 people volunteered their time, energy, enthusiasm, money, materials and most of all their hearts to give the Voisine Family of New Hampshire a new home back in October 2007.
Mike and I volunteered a day and worked the telephones for the builders RJ Moreau in Bedford, NH. To be a part of future makeover projects you can register at www.rjmoreau.com .
So it was only fitting to have "Giving That Gives Back" night at the Verizon Wireless Arena in Manchester, NH culminating with the airing of the 2 hour special on the JumboTron.
There were guest speakers including our Govenor John Lynch, several State Senators, Manchester Mayor Frank Guinta, and of course the Voisine Family. There was a special film produced by the builders showing all that happened that week here in New Hampshire.
The phrase that stuck with me from this whole experience was the words spoken by Rey Voisine "these are my people". He was overwhelmed by the love and care given him and his family and cited this as his reason for staying in his Manchester, NH neighborhood.
The air was charged with the emotions of the family and volunteers as they remembered the work, the friendships forged, the appreciation for giving and the sense of community that was ignited that week.
Paula Young, Executive Director of "There's No Place Like Home" spoke about the homes being built under her leadership by several New Hampshire High Schools for families displaced by flooding not only here in NH but also in Louisiana.
Volunteerism is here to stay in New Hampshire. If you have an interest in some of the programs available that would appreciate your help go to www.rebuildingtogethernh.org or call 603-645-4787.
