Here's MY recipe for it if anyone is interested.

Buy a 3-4# pork roast.

One 2# BAG of sauerkraut.

A couple of small onions

A CROCK POT!

Drain the sauerkraut in a colander and rinse it.

Put it in the bottom of the crockpot

Peel and quarter the onions and lay them on top

sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of sugar over the pile and add a generous cup of water.

Rinse the pork roast and cover with salt and pepper and lay on top and put the lid on it.

Cook 6-8 hours (first high then low) or until you can shred the pork with a couple of forks

The pork and kraut get mixed together and served either alongside of or pile on fresh whipped mashed potatoes, juice and all

Honestly, as Alton Brown would say it's 'Good Eats"

Thank me later.

Now that sounds delicious.  I think I remember having to eat some kind of cured fish in a cream sauce on New Years Eve.  I'm off to Google it and try and remember the name.

OK it was pickled herring in cream sauce.  I think the pork sounds better.

Right Michael

Liz, give it a try...I make it a couple of times a year...It's 'comfort food' to me...It also works well with kielbasa.
