Dissappointed weather people!

It is interesting to watch a weather forecast here in Orlando right now. We are more than two months into Hurricane season and we have had but three named storms. From a Florida point of view, one actually hit us (Tropical storm Alberto) which made for a nice windy rainy day (and considering we are more than 9" down on where we should be with rain this year, it was very welcome). I forget the name of the "B" storm, but it cma eno where near us and the "C" storm was "Chris" which couldn't quite make its mind up as to whether or not it would be an official tropical storm by the time it got here - it wasn't!

The weather people seem almost disappointed by how quiet our season has been this year. I'm sure a lot of prep goes into "how are we going to cover it all", but here all they have to do is look at the stats. Prior to 2004 it had been 40 (yes FORTY) years since we had a direct hit from a hurricane - and then we got three in six weeks. Central Florida did not get hit at all in 2005 and now here in 2006 all seems quiet again for now. Obviously I hope it stays that way, but those weather forecasters seem genuinely miserable that there is essentially nothing to report!

Interesting post about the Orlando area not getting a hurricane in 40 years.  Hoping that it is another 40 years that Florida gets a direct hit from another hurricane.

They're on their way...  Isn't end of Aug and Sept the busiest time of year for hurrican activity?
