Is it possible to jump rankings in a week on your website?

After going through a number of tech classes over the past 10 years in regards to how to get more hits on your site, I have came to the conclusion it is possible with help from others?

Through meta tags, context, correct word phrasing how the bots scroll, are among the top.  But is it possible to get website visits to build rankings?  If so, why don't we help each other out then?

Let me know if this has validity or I am against a fence post?

I had seen in the past your web page rankings will be reviewed by alexa.com  This will tell you real stats of a website.  If you do not show up with ranking you are in trouble.

If I'm not mistaken I think it does help your website if people click on it. So, I had the great idea of clicking on my own website...thinking that would help it. No go. SEO experts told me that google looks at ip numbers. Wow, I thought I was getting into real estate, I feel like I am turning into an IT consultant. It's starting to scare me how much I am learning lol

I have done extremely well in the search engines, due to hard work and lost of backlinks, of course each person, has a slightly different strategy. Its important. The more traffic you get coming in does help, it also helps to use a popular ISP that has significant traffic too. Closer to the backbone, can get juice as well.  Lance
