Christmas Tree Recycling in Jeffco, Arvada, lakewood, Wheatridge CO

The end of the holiday season also marks the time to recycle your natural Christmas trees.  Just as in years past, Jeffco has several designated drop of stations across the county.

The City of Arvada will have two locations available to dispose of your tree.  These locations are limited to residents of Arvada and do not include commercial or business residents. The Lutz Sports Complex located at W 58th Ave and Miller St is accepting trees until January 20, 2013.  There are no day or hour restrictions to drop off trees.

The City Parks Maintenance Shop located at 7800 W. 62nd Ave is also accepting trees until January 20, 2013, but is only open Monday -Friday between 7am-3:30pm. Mulch made from the trees will be available and is free of charge.

The City of Lakewood will have a drop off center located at the City Green House at 9556 W. Yale Ave, that will be accepting trees from 7am until dark each day until January 6, 2013. Mulch made from the trees will be available and is free of charge.

The City of Wheatridge is offering recycling services at two locations; the first is Prospect Park located at 11300 W 44th Ave, behind the park’s tennis courts and Panorama Park located on 33rd and Fenton.  Both locations are accepting trees until January 25, 2013. Mulch made from the trees will be available at Prospect Park location and is free of charge. It is important to make sure your tree does not contain any nails, netting, ornaments, lights or wiring before dropping it off.  Also, only natural Christmas trees are being accepted for recycling. This means garland, wreaths and artificial trees can not be accepted.

I really wish we had something like this in the area, and for all I know we might! I have just never heard of it happening before, but I think this is a great alternative to just simply putting your tree on the curb.

I really like it when they take the trees, turn them into mulch and then provide the mulch to homeowners. That's true recycling.

Teri,  I think the city uses the mulch for the trees in public places. Thanks for commenting!
