Orchid House, Longwood Gardens
During the holidays, families travel to Longwood Gardens to see the annual display, A Longwood Christmas. However, there are other garden treasures to be found during your visit. At any time of the year, Dolores and I enjoy spending some time in the Orchid House which is a section of the very large Conservatory. Follow the Acacia Passage from the Orangery to the Orchid House for very special experience.
"This room houses the best of Longwood’s more than 3,200 different types of orchids. At any one time approximately 200 to 500 plants at peak bloom add color and scent the air. Ferns, ivies, and peace lilies (Spathiphyllum) provide a green backdrop for the myriad of blossoms."
Be sure to have your camera in hand to capture those special moments that you will wish to share. By the way, life is better when there are flowers to photograph.
