The 17th Annual Buses Under the Bridge comes to Lake Havasu Jan 17-20, 2013 and includes a chili cook-off.Does the sight of a VW Bus remind you of fond childhood times?  Do thoughts of flower children and Woodstock fill your head?  Or does its quirky cuteness just make you smile uncontrollably?  Then you'll want to be in Lake Havasu when Buses by the Bridge 2013 kicks off January 17th through the 20th.

Things kick off at 2pm on Thursday, January 17th at Lake Havasu City's Windsor Beach #4.  On Friday, the official party begins when gates open at 7am.  This is when all attendees are free to set up camp and the chefs involved in the chili cook-off can prep their stations.  There will be a free shuttle available to take you over to the Havasu Island Balloon Festival, if you wish.

Saturday is when you will want to make sure to bring the kids.  There will be a bounce house, corn hole tournament and the opportunity to paint an actual VW bus on-site.  Don't worry, though.  The promoters will bring their own bus to paint so yours will be safe.  The chili cook-off will start at 4pm, with a raffle and awards handed out at 7pm.  Hot air balloon rides will also be available at Lake Havasu's Windsor Beach from 10am to 2pm for just $20 per person.

Sunday is when things start to wind down, beginning with a pancake breakfast courtesy of the local Boy Scouts at 7am.  Camp site clean-up will be held from 10am to 11am.  So, make sure you leave our beautiful Lake Havasu beach area in the same condition or better than when you got here.  A final raffle will be held at 11am before everyone says their good-byes.

Entry fees are $40 per person for the entire four days, $30 for Friday through Sunday and $20 for just Saturday and Sunday.  Parking is first come, first served, so get here early.  This year, campers, motorhomes, trailers and all non VW vans will be allowed to park in designated RV areas.  These are also available on a first come, first served basis and spaces are extremely limited.

Take a trip through memory lane at Lake Havasu's Buses by the Bridge 2013 January 17-20.  There will be plenty of food and fun for everyone.  After all, making memories with your family and loved ones is what life's all about.

Sounds like an event that will draw a crowd. Love to see VW buses and old VW's as it does remind me of a calmer time in life.
