When is too much of a good thing a bad thing?

Dear Clients, Friends & Fellow Realtors,

Plant this under the "be careful what you wish for" column!  For three to four years we we praying for more buyers and a decrease in home inventories in Valencia, Stevenson Ranch, Saugus, Castaic, Newhall, Canyon Country and Santa Clarita, California.  Our prayers have been answered to the extent that it has become virtually impossible to get an offer accepted.  Ever since late Winter and Early Spring of 2012 inventories have dropped steadily.  It was first noted that a heart pumping 300 homes were available for sale.  This was noted as drastically and unhealthily low inventory for the entire Santa Clarita Valley.  The numbers decreased to 259 in November.  This was enough to end the career of hundreds of Realtors as this is far less of the number of sales needed to sustain the thousands attempting to sell homes.  Well, guess the current number!  217

It's tough for buyers and their agents all over the country right now.  Hopefully sellers will start to get the clue and we'll see more homes hit the market in 2013.  Best of luck to you Tony.

We are experiencing the same lack of inventory in Sarasota, Florida and people who should have bought last year but did not are back in town and amazed at how few choices they now have and at a larger price!
