A quick glance at the calendar just told me that we are now five days into the new year. Happy 2013! My wish for this year is much joy and good health for all. Last year was a very dark year for my family. Too many storms of life passing across our shadows. Every time a tinge of bright light pushed aside the clouds, a new pall fell across our paths. 2013, in my estimation, is going to be a year of light. I hope to be dazzled from the illumination outside my physical being and to feel the radiance from my inner spirit. Many, many years ago I taught school with a woman and the two of us did not see eye to eye on too many levels. But, I shall never forget the one phrase of widom I took from her. She used to say, “don’t call into existence that which isn’t.” I am going to try to practice this each day. I shall not call into existence the unlit and dusky world. I hope I have the strength and grace to know that each day is a new beginning.
Over the past few days of this month, I have been reading many posts on facebook about everyone’s resolutions for 2013. Two of these posts have stuck in my craw. Neither post was deeply religious or philosophical. I think it was the simplicity of each which appealed to my Kindergarten sensibility. I must thank Karin for the first one. She hoped to spread more glitter in the new year along with creativity. Now, think about that for a moment or two. Wouldn’t the world be a better place with some glitter and joy shared with each other?? What Kindergarten Kid would not be in heaven with glitter pens, glitter glue and containers of glitter. For almost 26 years, glitter was a very messy staple in my classroom. Throw some around. It is a great stress reliever. The second post was from Mike, known to me as “Doc.” He posted a very short video of a darling toddler walking a very large dog on a leash. The toddler discovers a puddle and what ensues is pure bliss for the child. He abandons the dog and stomps his way over and over through the puddle. And, then, he picks up the leash and continues on his walk with the dog. Moral to the story~~~hope you find your own puddle.
Watch out, I plan to travel though 2013 with my big boots on and carrying a big bag of glitter. Hope you find your puddle and please spread some sparkle of your own during 2013.
