It is only 55 days until the Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard (formerly known as the Bay Hill Invitational present by MasterCard) will tee off. This week long event is set to begin on Monday, March 12 and carry through to the 18th.
(Yes, it is the new logo for the tournament)
There is a great history surrounding this event that date back to 1966, when the Florida Citrus Open was help a Rio Pinar Country Club in Orlando, FL. It was not until Palmer took up residence at Bay Hill that the tournament moved to is current course. Over the years, the course has seen some of the greatest moments in golf history.
In 1990, the course was lengthened to be an official 72 par course. Since then, the course has been dominated by today's long game players. The most notable of all is Tiger Woods, who has won the tournament 4 times in a row starting with the first win in 2000.
Some of the proceeds from this event are donated to the two hospitals located in Orlando, FL that are dedicated to Newborns, Infants, Children, and their mothers. The hospitals are the Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children and Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies. (My daughter was born at Arnold Palmer, as Winnie Palmer just opened up late last year.)

PS> Marc Blasi inspired me to write this post with his on the Honda Classic. I will try to make an appearance to this event to write a follow up and feature along with the 2 Average Joes course review (witnessed from the crowd).
