Was it something I said?

I’ve been getting a lot of calls lately and someone from out of state was asking for help because they will soon be in the area working at the Pentagon and wants to purchase a home.  Of course I was smiling ear to ear.

As we talked for a good while, great interaction back and forth, and I thought the conversation was going great until I realized I did not get her name so I asked for it and then immediately the phone went dead. Of course my first reaction is we got cut off, so I waited about 10 seconds and redialed.  I’m not a fan of continuous calling so I decided to wait and was sure I’d get a call back.  I waited until the end of the day, no call.  So I decided to give it one more shot and call the following morning.  The phone rang and rang and rang until it said “the mailbox belonging to …...is full and cannot accept new messages at this time, please try again later...goodbye.

All I could do is shake my head, a matter of fact I’m doing it now.  Was it something I said?

Strange.

I usually ask the first name, so they are not so stressed to give me 'too much information':)

I get a lot of internet leads, there are some people go gaagaa. Some names looks like: ''choandashfkdhf alkhfiahfdsf''

Should I send them back: Dear choandashfkdhf, the information your requested ....bluh bluh ?

lol:)

I would not take it personally. If they are that evasive, they are probably not being up front about a lot of things and it was probably a waste of time anyway. NEXT!

I try to clearly hear the name right off the bat and repeat it back even asking is this correct.  As I'm hearing imparied sometimes names can get a bit confusing.

Hey Tanya, oh I don't at all.  You think after holding a conversation for at least 10 min there is some sort of interest. Trust me I know, life goes on.

Just came across this post .... better late than never.

Anyway, I get what you are saying 100%.  Sometimes I don't ask too many questions in the beginning because I want to let the customer do all the talking.  Many times I am kicking myself at the end of the conversation because ended up giving them the benefit of all my knowledge and didn't get their name .... and can't get them back again.

So, that said, you must be a good listener and it doesn't just happen to you.

Happy Selling!
