I really don't want to hear about abortions, illegal immigration, gay rights, global warming, racism, and many other hot button topics that our politicians throw out as bones to their special interest groups. The GOP lost the last election because it could not get a majority of voters to understand the simpliest thing. That if the government has your money, you don't! Many on the left did not know that they were going to pay higher taxes. The left and many on the right in power, only want to talk a big game. They want more money to spend on big government.
There is only one thing that conservatives need to do to retake the White House. They must take back the spending and tax issue. I realize that it is easier to believe that your neighbor can pay a higher tax than you and that will be enough, but it politicians believe they can get you to believe that, they will just change the focus of the same argument. It is not about the rich paying more so the poor can get checks, it is not about those that own property paying most of the taxes compared to renters or people that have no or few kids paying for our schools. It is easy to get into arguments because to the left, every special interest is the most important. You will not win that and the GOP tries all the time to have that conversation.
No, we must convince our neighbors that the government has too much of our money. We have to ask them what they could do with those wages that are taken from them. We must ask them if the government is spending the money they have on the right things. We must fight tax increases across the board. We have to get to a level they understand. If you are talking to a plumber, ask him if he has more license fees, just leave it at that when he says yes. Stop trying to push it further. We have four years to fix this. If just a few people finally understand that the problem is spending, then we won't have to worry about all the other stuff, they will take care of themselves. It is just about spending and if a GOP member brings up anything else, either dump the GOP and go independant, or let them know that you are not interested in their special interests either!
