Wanted Deleted or Alive - Craigslist Sniper

By
Real Estate Agent with Keller Williams Realty TN R.E. License 292369

It is a plague similar to the pox traveling around from one agent to the next.

Be careful if you post on Craigslist. There are some snipers out there who not so randomly delete adds of certain agents. And they are hopping from one agent to the next.

Perhaps they are self appointed Craigslist vigilantes.  They feel your posts violate this guideline or that rule or they just are systematically eliminating the competition for these free service shoppers.  The problem is you never know what infraction they are talking about, real or imagined.

I guess that's what you get in a free service but it is still pretty frustrating. I would be curious to know how many of you have experienced this and how you have handled it.

Any ideas or suggestions on the best way to handle this scurge?

I've seen this with some friends ads but never experienced it so far.  I guess were lucky but it's sleazy practice at best.

Avoid Craig's List like the plague. I have never gotten any kind of valid lead from Craig's List - only highjacked listings.

It wasn't bad but they have deleted every add in 2013 on me Stuart.  It takes some perseverance Dena, but there ARE good Craigslist leads.

This just happened to me as well. I have an effective website, so using craigslist to drive visits is crucial, but  I also just had all of my 2013 ads deleted.

Part of the reason that I was given in the help forums is that I included a link the listing on my website.. Isn't a link to the information that the buyer is searching for valuable information?

A certain realtor, who shall remain nameless if I'm ever left alone at her tombstone with a sandblaster, was notorious for deleting mine and many other of my office brethren's CL ad's. I don't know if she was aware my broker used to work for the same agency (that I ALMOST applied for that matter) before he ultimately defected to create the office I currently work for now. In fact, he left because the broker actually encouraged such sleazy practices. They even went as far as to register all the website domain names that were easier to remember and have them redirect to their website when they learned he was to become his competition. Her undoing was by posting an ad that was nothing short of a smear campaign which poorly covered up which exact agency she was bashing. Don't know how severely she got repremanded for it (if at all), but these kinda tactics say more about them than they do me. Feel kinda bad for her if she was a new agent and did such things thinking it was okay because her broker said so, but its a weird confidence boost when you know your competitions last resort is hitting below the belt because they're threatened by you.

Unfortunately Craigslist is a defacto police state where its citizens are free to report any post in lieu of reasons. My defense? In the case of this sleazy sniper, I simply posted the same ad's three times than I normally would with headlines such as 'THE COMPETITION HATES MY HONESTY' and 'CHECK OUT THIS DEAL BEFORE IT GETS FLAGGED' and the sort. My best guess is the sniper either gave up or was promoted to customer.
