Greg Nino from the Houston, TX area has posted a good blog about the problems we could run into in getting rid of old printers/copiers.  Please watch the CBS clip below.  Then if you want information on how to fix that problem, when you are ready to get rid of that old piece of machinery, you can click here:

Thanks Steven, after watching your video, it seems that our privacy is basically gone with all of the government agencys that get new machines every year and let the old ones go to whoever is smart enough to go collect the data.

I have blogged on this topic many time, so thank you for doing it as well. These copiers, scanners, printers and fax machines can be a powder keg of information that needs to be protect and most people are totally oblivious to it.

Bob -- yes, it is interesting that the same government that legislates very strict personal privacy practices for so many of us (real estate, mortgage, health care, etc.) -- doesn't require their own people to be as careful!

Joe -- thank you for your kind comments and support.

Rebecca -- thank you for helping spread the word, so that people can start questioning those companies they do business with, as to how they get rid of their copiers/printers.   Maybe sending them email, when we receive "privacy notice" each year might get some more companies paying attention to this (don't know how will get government at every level to clear it.)

Steven:  This is pretty serious stuff.  I had no idea a copier was capable of saving this kind of information.  Uh oh!

Carolyn -- that why we are trying to get this infomation out to as many people as possible -- most brokers probably are not aware.
