Rural land for sale around Payson, Arizona

The area around Payson, AZ is known as "Rim Country" as it is located under the Mogollon Rim. This is a truly beautiful area! Unlike the Phoenix area, Rim Country experiences all four seasons, and is a popular retreat for people looking for a home away from the hustle & bustle of the big city. Many properties have mountain views, and creek/stream access. Some of the best areas to find rural or remote land for your perfect getaway are...

  Land in Control Rd neighborhood

  • Control Road: Located about 16 miles NE of the town of Payson, this road runs along the base of the Mogollon Rim, and has access to the East Verde River.  This road is a graded dirt road, but is accessible to all vehicles.  The Control Road neighborhoods have many seasonal streams, and most properties are covered in tall Ponderosa Pine trees, and have mountain views.  There are multiple neighborhoods in the Control Rd area, including Bonita Creek, Geronimo Estates, and Whispering Pines - all of which have properties that are secluded and private.

Land in Houston Mesa Area

  • Houston Mesa:  Located about 8 miles NE of Payson, the rural areas off of the Houston Mesa Rd offer seclusion while still being close to town.  Properties in this area are also close to some great summer swimming spots, locally known as  the "waterwheel" and the "crossings," both of which are fed by the East Verde River.  Most of the roads are gravel, accessible to all vehicles. Some of the neighborhoods in this area include Beaver Valley, Freedom Acres, and Flowing Springs.

Land in Happy Jack

  • Happy Jack: Located about 40 miles North of Payson, AZ, Happy Jack is a small town on the Mogollon Rim.  This area is heavily forested, and many properties border the Coconino National Forest.  There are 5 lakes located within a 20 mile radius of Happy Jack, including the popular Blue Ridge Reservoir and Lake MarySome of the neighborhoods in the Happy Jack area include Blue Ridge Estates, Clear Creek Pines, and Starlight Pines.

    Land in Pine/Strawberry

  • Pine/Strawberry:  Located around 15 miles North of Payson, the towns of Pine & Strawberry offer many properties with great mountain views, tons of trees, and some much desired seclusion.  Some of the neighborhoods that offer remote or rural properties include Strawberry Mountain Shadows, The Portals, and Cool Pines. Pine and Strawberry are close to the Tonto Natural Bridge State Park, which is a great hiking destination, and an amazingly beautiful site!

    Land in Star Valley

  • Star Valley:  Located about 5 miles East of Payson, the Star Valley area offers seclusion while remaining convienently close to town.  Some of the neighborhoods include The Knolls, Diamond Point Shadows, and Valley Haven Acres.  As in much of the Rim Country area, seeing wildlife like elk and javalina in your backyard is a common occurence!  Many of the properties in this area are zoned for horses, which is great since there are many great riding trails, as well.
