Fishhawk Lake Real Estate I think I can! I think I can!

Fishhawk Lake dredge 2013-Gayle Rich-Boxman copyrighted All Rights ReservedThis little dredge always makes me think of The Little Engine That Could, the motivational children's book. We have had it forever here at Fishhawk Lake, it keeps on pluggin’ along and other than it scaring my pup, Kasa (she never likes inanimate objects and barks like crazy) it does what it’s supposed to throughout the seasons at Fishhawk Lake.

This little guy dredges the silt that collects through the seasons at Fishhawk Lake and through a large piping system takes it to dry land into spoils ponds or other designated areas, which later can be used by others in the community.  There are giant floating balls sitting on the surface of the lake to show boaters where the pipe is located just under the surface so that they don’t boat over it by mistake.

The dredge moves around throughout the year and there are areas of Fishhawk Lake that are too deep for it to reach, so they don’t get dredged. Right now, he’s in front of my home, thus the photo op!

The dredge operator for Fishhawk Lake is Bob Smith (such an unusual name), a gentle-man and a local who comes out early in the AM and works usually about 6 hours per day several times a week.Fishhawk Lake Dredge operator-Gayle Rich-Boxman 2013-Copyrighted All Rights Reserved

When I’m walking the dogs in the morning, we often see each other and he always wishes me a good day in a cheery voice—and he really means it.

The comparison of the little dredge to The Little Engine That Could is clever. The lake looks beautiful. I am sure this is a pleasant area that is good to live n.

I would enjoy watching that, and how wonderful of those who live at Fishhawk lake to have the lake dredged.  "Wishing you and Larry a great weekend.  A

Fishhawk Lake with this latest account of yours Gayle reminds me of Mayberry. Everyone knows everyone and it seems like such a sleepy little village with the lake as the centerpiece of it. Keep bringing us your touch of home stories. They are wonderful.

Gayle-Interesting info for your little slice of paradise. I can picture Kasa barking at it. Mom's dog Heidi barks at the vacuum cleaner.

Betty, it's beautiful here for any number of reasons...the seasons are just one!

A~well, it's certainly nice to get it done in the "off season" so that when summer arrives, it won't be sitting in front of my lakefront view. I like that we can recycle the spoils!

Gary, now that was beautifully said!

Sharon, you never miss a beat--and as to the vacuum cleaner, Kasa does her play stance (you know, front down, butt in the air) because she thinks it's another toy!

An abosulte delight to read Gayle. I really loved your story about the Little Engine that Could - why don't I remember seeing it on anywhere on the lake either trip - did I miss it? Or does Bob get some time off? It's kind of cute - but, I guess you wouldn't want to look at it all year. Ha ha. Mac would bark at it too.

What a wonderful picture and story!  I've never seen a dredge before much less thought about what they do.  The cheerful colors of this dredge makes your photograph look like it came straight from storybook with the snow capped trees in the background, the cabins.

You do a wonderful job of showing of highlighting how charming Fishhawk Lake is.

Have a great weekend.

Debb, when you were here it was at the other end of the lake most likely, or docked by the boat ramp near the clubhouse. Bob works part time and sometimes it's not necessary for him to be here. He is a total sweetie and stops to say hi to my dogs (he is completely enamored with Kasa since her first saw her as a puppy, so he's thrilled that she's gaining weight and looks healthy).

For a dredge it IS kinda cute!

Sondra, you made me feel like I taught you something new--thank you! Your description made me look at it with different eyes...and I also loved that it had snowed a bit just before I took the photo. The white background with the colors the dredge made it stand out better against the background. It's easy to showcase this place, I get so many great opportunities to share something new.

Thanks for mentioning this Gayle, I would have missed it if you had not stopped by.  While searching for this I found lots of other interesting things too read, so you should be seeing a few more comments from me today.

This guy sounds very interesting, and of course this photo like all of your photos makes me want to live on this most beautiful lake.
