WHY RENT, WHEN YOU CAN OWN FOR LESS?

Northway Bank and the Laconia Area Community Land Trust want would-be homeowners to learn everything they need to know about buying a home in the beautiful Lakes Region of New Hampshire and they are giving away the education in an upcoming seminar.

Have you been kicking around the idea of becoming a homeowner in our area of the Granite State?  Then you will not want to miss this special January event.  With mortgage interest rates below 3.5% and home prices still well below their 2007 highs, the time to convert monthly rent payments into equitiy has seldom been better.

DON'T BE SCARED OFF!

Making a large financial commitment can be a daunting challenge, even a bit scary; but you can do it, especially if you receive a proper orientation of the process of finding and purchasing a home.  In the Lakes Region there is considerable support available to those interested in owning a piece of the American Dream and on January 19, Northway Bank and LACLT intend to share with attendees everthing it takes to claim that dream.  The program is open and free to the public but pre-registration is required. See the link below for details.

Since its founding in 1988, LACLT, a non-profit, HUD-approved housing counseling agency, has turned out nearly 260 first-time homebuyers through its educational programs representing in excess of $38 million in local area home purchases. The  January Seminar will cover such topics as Credit Scores and Budgeting; Mortgage Qualification; REALTOR representation; Home Inspections and Closing Transactions.

Organizers are hosting the seminar at the Northway Bank branch at the Belknap Mall, 9 Old State Rd., Belmont, NH.  The session begins at 8 a.m. and continues until 4 p.m.  Lunch and refreshments will be  provided at no charge.

The stated mission of LACLT is to help low- and moderate-income households achieve economic self-sufficiency through the development of permanently affordable housing opportunities and associated support programs.
