Tips for a Successful Open House

By
Real Estate Agent with RE/MAX Horizon

There are many things you can do to ensure that you have a successful Open House.  I have a file full of ideas that I can use to make my Open House the best it can be. Here are some tips to remember when planning your next one.

  • Put out your Open House signs as early as allowed in our area, not only will more people know about your Open House but it also gets your name out there and known in your area.
  • Prepare a flyer that lists all of your properties that you have on the market. If the home you are presenting that day doesn't meet the needs of the buyer, perhaps one of your other listings will.
  • Have a contest; it can be as simple as a gift card drawing. In the past I have had buyers come through and provide minimal information in my registry. When I have my drawings, I provide entry forms requesting all the pertinent information. I am always amazed how much information people will give to win something as small as a $25 gas card. Don't forget to ask if they are already working with an agent and if it okay to contact them via phone.

Remember, even if they aren't interested in your current listing, they are great prospects to advertise your future listings.

Monica, I liked the drawing idea.. Your right, I think many of us underestimate the information we can gain by giving something away. Thanks.
