This pretty old frame with an original pastel portrait of someone's child is lovely, I think, and was a common thing in days gone by. It was fashionable to take your baby's picture "naked as a jaybird" when cameras rolled around. And then in my case, kids would get older and you could threaten to show it to their boy friend or girl friend if they misbehaved! They would squeal, "MOM!!!!"
Before cameras, the itinerant artist might come by your home and make a quick pastel portrait. We are familiar with all the grandma and grandpa portraits framed similar to this baby picture. Take a look at this. The glass is all wavy from age. Look at the old Indian blanket that may be original art also.
In today's world, this probably would never be done. Folks might holler that is is pure pornography and the artist might be sent to jail. Parents probably don't take cute pictures of the kids in the bath tub having a lot of fun for fear of what they might be accused of. Things do change, don't they?
And yes, I know. The wallpaper behind this picture is also completely out of style.
