We are excited for most people in Scottsdale that the world famous Barrett Jackson collector car auction begins 40 hours of broadcasting on Tuesday. Not everyone appreciates the 8 day event...there will be tens of thousands of car collectors descending on Scottsdale. This is good and bad for local commerce. Over the past 5 years over 200,000 people have visited the auction site at WestWorld. With all the tourists and media noise etc. some local residents decide to leave. They rent out homes to folks from out of town that attend the auction action. There's no doubt this big tent event makes boat loads, yes boats are sold at the auctions, of money for the local economy.
Barrett Jackson also hosts auctions in Palm Beach, FL and Las Vegas, NV and Orange County, CA. Critics of the event should know that with the bad aspects like traffic and various forms of excess, Barrett Jackson has helped raise $20 million dollars since 2006 for charity. The Child Help Foundation benefits from chritable contribution from Barrett Jackson auctions and try to catch one of the cars that are SOLD for BIG MONEY at the auction and proceeds go to charities like this one.
Try to embrace these amazing vehicles in Arizona and thank you Scottsdale for hosting the event...
even if you're not a fan. Thanks again AZ.
