Photo Essay: Colorado Wildlife on a COLD Morning

By

This winter, my favorite thing way to spend the cold, snowy weekends is at a friend’s charming log home in Elizabeth, Colorado.  Elizabeth is small rural community located about equidistance from Denver and Colorado Springs.

When I woke up this morning, it was maybe 4 degrees outside.    When I finally ventured downstairs and looked out the windows, I was grateful that my camera was close by.

Regardless of whether a country home is your primary residence or your weekend get away, the ability to see wildlife from your living room window is a BIG advantage of country life style.

One participant was lacking in the antlers category. Definitely at a disadvantage.

You are right.   That one has a nick name of "One Horn" if I recall correctly.

Hello Sondra - Sometimes the very best things that happen in a day are those that happen in the very early morning.  These photos are reminders we need to get up and out early.

That is some mighty cold temperatures you are having there Sondra, but it IS wintertime and it is Colorado. Just getting between the two cities you found a little bit of ruralness there and to see deer locking antlers and heads like that and the bunny is awesome. Super photos as always. The rabbit even looks like he is posing for you ha ha.

Great pictures, Sondra. I love the wildlife opportunities in our area. I will soon be doing a blog with a great bald eagle picture taken by my house.

Thanks so much for sharing your photographs.  Those of us that live in urban areas do not get to enjoy wildlife scenes like these.
