Never Trust A Copier-Hard Drive Saves Images of Every Copy, Scan & Fax

I own several older copiers that I haven't sold or scrapped because I first need to find out how to remove, download and then erase a copier's hard drive.

If you didn't know already, most modern (last 10 years) copiers have hard drives that store every image that was copied, scanned or faxed onto it.

I'm aware that images and information including social security numbers and more are on my hard drive. I hope someone at ActiveRain will know how to remove, download and then erase a copier's hard drive and share it with me. So thanks in advance!

Michelle:  I had no idea whatsoever that copiers actually had a hard drive that kept a record of all images, copies, etc that went through it.  Wow... what a revelation.  Honestly, I doubt if very many agents are aware.  Surprise !

Karen Anne, you are pretty savvy, so if you don't know, I'm sure a lot of others out there don't know either.

There is some way to clear it.  I just don't know how.  Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

I reblogged this as well. There is a way Gary. They said in the video it costs about $500 to do it, which is why most companies don't do it. You can't just take out the harddrive because then you can't resell it (which is what the companies are doing)

Very interesting!  I knew they had memory for storing the document being printed, I just didn't know it kept it.  How to purge it all, I have no idea.

Michelle, I wonder if there was a magnetic way to erase, like when they say that you go through the Security Checkpoint at the Airport it could  erase images?:) Just thinking out loud this would be a valuable answer who ever knows should share:))

Gary, thank you for thinking about it.

Brian I am not looking to re-sell except possibly as parts so another option is OK for me.

John, thank you for letting me know.

Endre, I'm sure there is, I actually want to save the data for myself, then erase it. Or just remove the hard drive and sell for parts without it.
