Notes from a political outsider in GA House District 71.In the interests of full disclosure, I must admit that I am NOT politically connected.

In the past week, I have learned that winning a campaign is not necessarily about your strength of character or your personal convictions.

Since I have qualified as a candidate for GA House District 71 I have received countless calls from campaign consultants offering me advice and their services.

After several in depth conversations with these very knowledgeable and skilled promoters, I have come to realize that there is a lot more to winning an election that just being the right person for the job.

It takes MONEY to win an election. Nothing illegal, unethical, or immoral about that. But there can be questions about where any candidate gets the money.

This has been an eye-opening experience. But I will offer the electorate of District 71 this:

Since I am NOT politically connected, I don’t owe ANYONE a thing. I will always vote my conscious and put the best interests of the people in my district first!

I will work hard and ALWAYS strive to do the right thing.

Note: Richard Weisser is a candidate for GA House District 71.

Good for you, Richard! 

    I understand the importance of having a campaign manager or consultant to get you through an Election.  But that is not the same as selling out to get votes or to gain political clout.

Just to be clear, the consultants did not suggest anything unethical or immoral. They understand how to get votes. The problem is not with their job and what they do ...

The question is where do you get the money to run the campaign? Once again, nothing wrong at all with collecting contributions from supporters.

I agree that none of this is illegal, unethical or immoral. I just wanted to make it very clear that I am NOT part of the political establishment and that the voters should take that into consideration as to whether or not that offers value to them!

Richard, these campaign consultants might be a little bit like the guys who call offering to put us on Page 1 of Google. 

I have a colleague whose husband is one of these experts.  Actually, he's really good - though he did pass on Bill Clinton first time around.
