Giving Back

By

I know that I am most likely going to be kicked out of the Republican Party because I have a generous streak, and from what I have read on various credible websites, like Moveon.org heard on Air America that is not even possible.

But I just returned from my local board where I sit on a couple of committees.  One of which is the communications committee.

In this committee, we have helped to organize a program that is called Backpacks for kids.  Click on the backpack for information.

Anyway, I have the greatest feeling knowing that some children will be helped by us.  Not Me, not my firm, but Realtors as a whole.

If you ever wanted to get involved in something bigger than yourself, and didn't know where to start, look at your local board, or click this backpack and send some backpacks to us to hand out.

(The preceding political satire is in no way affiliated with anyone except me)

We did a similar project statewide last year for kids being removed from their homes and taken into the foster care system because of abusive parents, criminal parents, druggie parents, or no parents at all.

It seems it was a common practice to gather the child's belongings, clothes, etc., up and just stuff them into a garbage bag or two since most of them had nothing else to put them into.

We bought statewide over 1,000 new suitcases and duffel bags which we then gave to the various foster care agencies to give to kids they were removing from a parental home.

At least with their suitcases they had some semblance of dignity in a terrible situation for them.

Jim, it is the same in Florida.  Trash bags as luggage.  At least when My parents got rid of me I had a Gov issue Duffle Bag to put my worldly possessions into.  And it was smooth and matched my new Government issue haircut.  Anyway, I fixed the link, and hopefully some of you guys and gals will get involved or stay involved.

We just got our backpack supply letter from the chamber.  Our community does it every year.  It is a more personal donation than professional for our neighborhood.
