First Time Home Buying in Bossier City
A few years back I had a first time home buyer come to me for help with buying in Bossier City, Louisiana. We started looking in the areas north of I-220 and south of Barksdale Airforce base.
He was a single, young-professional man looking for a smaller single family home or a townhouse. In one of our first meetings he asked me to look into foreclosures. I understood his desire to find a great deal but the areas we were looking at offered few options.
 
Determined to help him, I came across a townhome in the Southgate neighborhood that had just completed the foreclosure process. I was anticipating a lot of interest in the property so I advised my buyer that we needed to move as quickly as possible.
Seeing as how he was a first time home buyer and we just started looking, he hesitantly agreed with me to make an offer first thing Monday morning. Soon after, the selling agent told me he received three offers for the house. To make a long story short, our offer was not accepted. I was disappointed for my buyer but determined to satisfy his needs.
We continued our search for the next month until we found a single-family home in the same area that was a great fit for him as a first time home buyer. We made an offer on the second home and waited for a response. Amazingly, just as a counter-offer was made to us, the first property became available again. I informed my client of the new developments and he decided to decline the counter-offer and go after the foreclosure.
Our offer on the foreclosed townhouse was accepted this time! After an arduous buying experience with Fannie Mae (that’s a story for another blog) he finally got the house he wanted all along.
I know how important it is to make a first time home buyer feel comfortable in a process that can be down right scary. But this experience taught me that people don’t always choose their home. Sometimes the home chooses them.
