It’s the start of a new year, and if you’re thinking about selling your home, or in the process of selling, there are some things you can do to improve your sales. MSN.com published an article this morning that gave six tips for improving the appeal of your home.
1). Make a video.
This is a great idea, because people are visual by nature, and seeing your home, how it fits together and the layout of it will help them visualize themselves in it.
2). Renovate.
If your house isn’t selling, you might want to look into changing some of the aspects. There are lots of trendy ideas out there that can be added to make your house more appealing.
3). Have a Weekday Open House.
Weekends are busy, and there are already lots of other open houses. Hosting one during the week makes you stand out.
4). Find a Better Agent.
If you’re not getting the results you were looking for, or you and your agent are disagreeing on how to proceed, it might be time to trade in and trade up for someone else. There are options, and you should feel like you and your agent are working towards the same goals.
5). Don’t Take a Back Seat Role.
Your agent will be working on showing the house off, but there is no harm in two people advertising your home.
6). Lower Your Price.
If you’ve tried everything else, and nothing seems to be working, you might have to lower your price. Always remember: keep your price higher than the lowest price you’re willing to accept, that way you have room to haggle. (I don't always agree with this strategy! There are times when a lower price will increase competition for your home and drive up the price.)
