Last night, as I was checking my google analytics, I noticed it looked a bit different. It looks like they've now added a whole dashboard on Social interaction.
Now, you can easily see now many visits are from social media, as well as which sites. You can easily see which pages are getting the getting the most social engagement (e.g. getting thumbs up, plussed, shared, etc). You can see where it's coming from, what they are doing, and bounce rate. You can look at this over time, too.
BTW, I have more than I expected from Pinterest and Google Plus. I learned that I have a whole bunch of shares on Stumbled Upon, which I wasn't even aware of/don't know how to use. I'll have to learn more about that site at some point. I also thought it was interesting that a lot of my shares and social media hits are coming from iPad.
From everything I've been reading about SEO, it sounds like social engagement is becoming a part of it. Clearly, google is tracking it.
