Interesting concept that the Brokerage firm is allowed to kick back money to the Buyer's....this is not allowed in Louisiana! That should attract some buyers for that community. Good Luck!

Paige. There are only a few states that do not permit agents to rebate to the buyer. LA is one. It's fully permitted in MD and VA.

Good morning Lenn,

I'm assuming this credit is in addition to your commission you would receive. Is that correct? If the builder treats it as a broker fee do you have to pay taxes on the $15,000? We have had some builders in Austin make us sign a form saying we will not give any of our commission or bonus to the buyer.

There have been rebates on the past 2 settlement statements on closings the buyer agent was giving back 1-2% of their commission. Both agents worked hard for their buyers..... I was surprised to see those rebates.
