It's been a busy month here in the Cary Apex Raleigh area of North Carolina. I've been showing buyers quite a few houses lately. Even though we live in the South, January can still be a gloomy time of the year. And when it's raining out houses can look dark and uninviting inside.
If you're selling your home it's always a good idea to OPEN the blinds and curtains, and turn on the lights. The buyers do not want to feel like they're entering a cave! The extra few cents that it will cost you to leave the lights on when you have a showing will be more than made up for in the sale price of the home and the shorter time on market.
I showed 18 homes to a lovely couple this past week and the 4 homes that made the top of the list were all bright and airy. There were several homes where I had to spend my time going around opening the blinds, turning on some lights, then closing them all again. NONE of these homes were on the favorite list.
