Why do you want to be a better photographer?

Like your reasons for becoming a better photographer; mine would also include the pleasure of taking a unique or cool shot. I'm a real shutterbug so I'll be looking for your new series on becoming better.

Sondra, great quote and wonderful photographs.  I love taking photos of people and moment.  I love black and white photography and have been known to take more than 5,000 photos in a given year.  When it comes to my real estate business, I choose to hire photographers on some properties and use my own photos on others.  Sometimes both.  Thanks for asking the question.

Sondra, It gives me pleasure and I see things in a whole new way. I also plan to take more classes this year with other instructors just for the different perspective.

I want to be a better photographer to help get houses displayed in the best possible manner for quicker sales and sales in line with the asking price.

You are ALREADY a good photographer Sondra, but I like your reasons for even wanting to be better. As you know my graphical self, I like to match words with images and images with words. Photography is a form of art and what thrills me so much about it is that it is part of storytelling. It generates emotions, and remember paints a picture worth a thousand words. ALL reasons to want to excel at it!!

Sondra, this is making me want to fool around in black and white.  Great shots.

Well really I don't know why...except to take better house pictures. But that's not a good enough reason. Maybe I just want to have something for the my daughter to look back on. Maybe I just want to capture that perfect moment. Well I already do that in some way. I take the picture first ( you have to do that with wildlife ) and then I ask the subject to pose. Maybe not in verbal words, but I will make the subject pose and line up that beautiful wildlife shot. I missed that opportunity with my last Wordless Wednesday pictures. But that was a perfect example of getting the shot and capturing the memory and then waiting to line up and perfect the shot. I never got the chance to line up and perfect the shot, but I got the moment.

Becoming a better photographer is a life long journey.  I am a better photographer, but I can always be even better.  Debbie, taking better listing photos is a perfectly good reason.  That's how I got started, and then I fell in love with photography itself.  

I spent last night crafting a new light modifier (that didn't work exactly like I had expected).  I'll probably spend the next few weeks making adjustments.  I enjoy trying new and different techniques to achieve better photos.

Patricia, it made me want to fool around too, but my wife didn't want any part of it.

Sondra, I think it's interesting (wonderful) that you and I have such similar blogs right next to each other in the Photography group.  Thank you for the post.

Photography is a wonderful hobby and is inexpensive therapy for all of us.  It is easy to set aside the problems of the moment when you are focusing your camera on a beautiful flower.
