What to do when the sky is blue & -45 degrees outside!

Just a little help when its slow and your in dire need of clients...

Well, showing houses probably isn't at the top of my list today as the temp with windchill has been negative 30-45 below zero and people are getting anxious with the fed rate cut.  But if you wan't to look at homes, I assume there is some seriousness involved.

With Fargo/Moorhead being one of the fastest growing cities in the US, with not too much slowdown for building, everyone is starting to get anxious for looking for a home.  Over the past 30 days we consider a lul in activity due to the holidays and weather to turn for a little sun.

So, what is there to do when the market is slower?  BLOG, RE-DO WEBSITES, ADD LISTINGS TO FREE WEBSITES, SEND OUT NEWSLETTERS, MASS EMAILS, COLD CALL EXPIRED LISTINGS, GO TO 2 NEW PLACES & MEET 2 NEW PEOPLE 5 days straight,  GO OUT AND MINGLE AT THE BARS, CONTACT ALL OF YOUR OLD CLIENTS AND SEE HOW THEY ARE DOING, CONTACT YOUR BEST LENDERS FOR LUNCH, PROSPECT PROSPECT PROSPECT.

Over the past few years, my CEU training classes encouraged something that I beleive we forget to do period, and especially when we are busy.  No training program can beat this idea, which is meet 2 new faces and get there email information or get your card in there hand.  Start crunching the numbers and what do you get out of 2 per day at 6 days per week, because we do take a day a week off right?  Thats alot of contacts in one year let alone trying it for 5 years.  Why not start and coast as it gets slower contacting those people you started to meet early in your RE career.

I thought I would send this out because whats working for me, might work for you and help you with a little marketing edge.  The best advertising you could spend is an ear to a new face and your 2 cent card in there wallet!  Try this and you might like it!

Good day to all and good luck in the upcoming 2008 Season!

Hi Dave,

Your title definitely caught my attention. With that temperature, I knew you had to be in North Dakota, or Alaska ;-)

I was born and raised in ND, and I must say, I don't miss the frigid cold one bit. Although we have snow & cold here in Michigan, ND is THE definition of cold in the winter, particularly with the wind. At least the sun is out!

Dave - your weather isn't all that far off from ours.  Our high is supposed to be 17 today, but with the wind we are at -18.  Pretty cold for this area.  This morning our doors were frozen shut - and I'm talking about the doors on our house!

But if I had a serious buyer right now that wanted to see homes, I'd stretch on another pair of socks and get out there.  Business is business!

Hi Dave,

I can certainly relate to your current weather challenges.  It's such a good reminder that there's always something you can do to increase or improve your business - even when weather may not permit face-to-face client contact.  Keep up with implementing those great ideas.
