Many of us are trying to develop the habit of blogging every day by participating in Lynn Friedman’s 2013 Big Blog Jump Start challenge. If I am counting correctly, we are 10 days into the contest.
The last time I attempted to participate in this type of challenge, my quality suffered. Lynn stressed that we should focus on writing a high quality posts.
One way of doing this might be to ask:
- What is the purpose of your blog?
- Does this post fulfill that purpose?
- Does this post reflect your voice - who you are?
(Can you find the rock climber in the picture below?)

The purpose of my blog is to:
1. Share the Colorado Experience
2. Educate
(Here is a close up of the climber. He has a purpose - to get down.)

I use photographs that I have taken to share the Colorado experience. I strive to share information that is educational to the general public and/or the real estate community.
(In Colorado Springs, we are fortunate to have the Garden of the Gods in our backyard. Coming from a College Station, Texas which is very flat, I never thought that I would have the chance to photograph a rock climber. It was interesting because it was hard to see him with the naked eye. In fact, some of the people watching thought he was a girl. Once I zoomed in with my camera, it was hard to figure out exactly where he was at. )

Occasionally, I come up with a great blog post idea that would probably be very popular and receive lots of comments. However if the post isn't in line with who I am or who I strive to be, I trash it. For example, I strive to be a very positive person. So, I avoid writing rants or posts that criticize businesses and their quality of service.
I like to watch the following YouTube video, which is based on a verse from the bible, because it reminds me of what I want my REAL purpose in life to be. Although I'm not anywhere close to perfect, I want my Active Rain blogging efforts and everything else I do to fall in line with my real purpose in life.
What is the purpose of YOUR blog?
Sincerely,
Sondra Meyer, CPA
