A lot more than hygiene and hot water goes into designing a master bathroom shower. In addition to size, style and layout, there are countless selections of fixtures and features for your shower. Here are the top 7 design characteristics of a dream shower.

Sizable –Although the shower doesn’t need to accommodate more than two people, having a larger shower is a nice amenity for your custom home. For a comfortable space, the shower should not be any smaller than the circle of your outstretched arm span. Also take into account which fixtures you will be selecting. If you’re considering rainfall or dual shower heads, make sure to plan for extra room and wall space. Keep in mind that shower controls should be easily accessible without having to experience an icy cold spray when first starting up the shower.

Stylish –Whether you are going for a modern look with clean smooth lines made of monochrome materials or a Mediterranean style with natural stone and wide arched entries, your shower has tons of design potential. New home builders Tampa recommend accent shower tiles to add personality and easily pair with paint colors, flooring and countertops. A built-in shower niche boosts style and organization with added space for shampoo and bath products.

Steamy – Nothing ruins a nice, hot shower like ice cold water. To have an abundance of hot water at a quick speed, have a Tampa new home builder install a tankless water heater – we recommend Noritz. To further prolong the warmth from your shower, install towel warming drawers and towel bars in your bathroom. Another hot idea is to install a floor heating system.

Smart – Being smart about your shower’s spray zone is important for layout and fixture placement. If you dare to go door-less, you will need to account for a large spray zone. To save on layout space, utilize a half wall or place your shower in a corner. Curb-less showers may look sleek and simple, but need a special design in which the shower floor pitches towards the drain. A second drain may also be needed.

Stress Relieving - While stress-relief is usually achieved by soaking in a garden tub with a glass of wine, showers can also offer a spa-like experience. A steam shower or series of jetted fixtures can be comparable to a time-out in the sauna or a massage appointment. Incorporating a shower bench into your design also offers a more relaxing experience – and allows for easy and pain-free leg shaving. Add Kohler's Water Resistant Speakers in your shower for ultimate relaxation.

Systematic – If you have a strong preference about your shower’s temperature and pressure, consider a shower system. This will allow you to pre-set your preferences so that every shower is perfect. Bathe in high-tech luxury with Grohe's Ondus Digital or Kohler's DTV Digital Interface.

Sunny – Select the right light for your shower. Natural lighting from windows or glass walls creates a positive ambiance for a bright and sunny feel. While a coastal style shower may thrive on lots of sunlight, a masculine monotone shower looks best with limited lighting. Down lighting is usually the most popular choice for showers and dimmer switches are a great idea to control the mood.

A lavish shower is an important part of the master bath and should be built with style, comfort and efficiency in mind. Read our past blog to learn more about how to design a luxurious bathroom or browse our online gallery.

Sarah and Les Oswald - Thank you for re-blogging! In addition to a tankless water heater, another great option for new home construction is to look into is PEX plumbing.
