When you live in San Francisco, it's easy to visit the Asian Art Museum.

Indian Buddha
We love living in San Francisco and enjoy our life here. One recent Saturday morning we walked the 1-mile between our place and the Asian Art Museum, arriving shortly after opening. (If we didn't enjoy walking, or on the rare day that the weather is inclement, we could have hopped on a Muni bus that runs along Van Ness Avenue.)

ocated on Larkin Street in the heart of the Civic Center area, the world-renowned collection of Asian art draws visitors from near and far. You'll often find tour groups on the steps, waiting to enter, and at times it can be quite crowded inside. When you live here, it's easy to arrive before the crowds, and on our recent visit the staff outnumbered the visitors, which meant we had plenty of time to linger wherever we wanted.

Since 2001 the Asian Art Museum has been housed in the building which previously had been the headquarters of the San Francisco Public Library. This is an architectural gem, featuring a blend of beaux art style with modern design elements, and has 3 floors of galleries to explore and enjoy.

Is it time for you to find your spot here in San Francisco? Whether you wish to live here full time as we do, or would prefer to have a pied-a-terre to enjoy when your time permits, there are wonderful options that allow you to enjoy the best of the urban lifestyle. Give me a call and I'll help you live your San Francisco dream.

Lottie:  Judging from the pics you offer here, I don't know which I would enjoy more.  The walk TO the museum.  The ART in the museum.  Or the museum's architecture itself!  I can see why you'd want to linger ...

Diane, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos. Many museums won't allow photos to be taken, so I especially appreciated the Asian Art Museum's policy.

Mary, I keep thinking you need to plan a vacation here -- it seems like a place you and your husband would enjoy!

Barbara, I'm glad you enjoy learning some of the lesser delights of San Francisco. Have you visited here?

Bob, you're right -- I DO enjoy it here. San Francisco is a vibrant city, conducive to walking, exploring and enjoying!

Gene, adventures/outings here are lots of fun, and usually include some nice exercise and often some great food. Come visit sometime.

Nancy, I'm ashamed to admit that until this recent visit I hadn't been to the Asian Art Museum since it moved to its current location back in 2001! There's so much to do and see here that some really enjoyable things wait in the wings.
