Jordan Valley is in my home county, Malheur. It's a quite isolated small ranching community. I have deep roots there, my great great grandfather having jumped ship in San Fransisco eventually found himself in Jordan Valley ranching and building a toll road to a mining community high in the mountains (Silver City Idaho).
I do take listings there even though it's 100 miles from my office. However, the weather was lousy and I really didn't want to make the trek down there last week.
I was wrong the whole experience was really fun. The house is just a simple 2 bedroom with an add on bedroom - plain jane on the outside but inside is fantastic. The owner is a master leather worker and some of the cupboard fronts in the custom kitchen are hand tooled leather!
He did a great job of making a simple house something very special, lots of knotty pine - tile- and everything is done well! It's $75000 - his life has changed and he is moving to Colorado to do leatherwork full time. And he is a musician! He gave my cousin/assistant and I CD's of his cowboy songs and they were also wonderful.
In real estate you just never know what treasures a day will bring.
