10 Things to do at Lake Murray Park, San Diego, CA
Even for us locals (and natives), sometimes we forget how much there really is to do in San Diego. Thank you so much for the reminder, especially Lake Murray because I drive by it weekly, but never take the time to stop and experience it. Adding that to the to-do-list right now.
If you haven't been to Lake Murray before, you should visit this famous recreation area that many locals use that also acts as a reservoir for the residents of San Diego water supply. You can click on the picture below to view more pictures of the lake and park and watch a video as well.
So here are my top 10 things you can do when you go to Lake Murray.
- Go for a walk! There is a paved path around the lake for approximatly 3.2 miles. The only catch is there is a dam at the end of the path, so you will have to turn around and go back the way you came. Many people will walk about half way and then go back.
- Go for a jog!
- Try roller blading
- Bring you bicycle and take a spin.
- Bring your dog, as Lake Murray is pet friendly as long as you clean up after them.
- Bring your boat! There are certain restrictions, but there is a boat dock that you can bring you boat.
- Bring a fishing pole and go fishing off of their fishing dock or take your pool out in the boat.
- Bring a picnick basket and have a picnick
- Bring some horseshoes and play at one of the designated areas.
- This is probably my favorite, just sit at the waterside and enjoy the views of Cowles Mountain and spend a little time with nature. There are many water fowl there and if you are not careful, a ground squirel will probably try and sneak off with your picnick as they are some of the least frightened squirels I have encountered.
