Props: cell phones, websites, texting, iPads, assistants...a broom?
Here! Here! I have a broom, a small vacuum AND door mats in the back of my car in addition to my tablet, USB charger AND smartyphone....I have everything but a PRINTER there for me to be PRODUCTIVE....and clean the leaves off the front porch!

All offer us a means to communicate with other people. We get instant communication via cell phones as opposed to waiting to get back to the office to get a message from the receptionist. Our website allows potential clients to view our offerings without waiting for snail mail. Texting keeps us in touch when we are unavailable in meeting or places we don't want the phone to interrupt us. iPads allow us instant communication when we are 'in the field'. Assistants do all the 'little things' that allow us to spend more time directly with our clients.
A broom? WTH? Simple, a $20.00 push broom from Ace Hardware allows me more time face to face than all the other gadgets mentioned above.
I've got a cell phone and use it daily (hourly)...makes me money.
I've got a website that allows my clients (or future clients) to see my market and spend time searching and dreaming about a future home.
I text when I'm stuck in Town Hall meetings or elsewhere that I shouldn't be talking.
iPads...I probably will get one this year but for now I use my iPhone or Netbook.
Assistants, my beautiful wife!
A broom! I own 175' of street frontage on Main Street. We are a small town without a vehicle street sweeper. Pick me! In the summer (spring to fall) I will spend an hour a week SWEEPING the street in front of our business. For one, it's menial work that allows me to think! For two, travelers will stop and ask directions. For three, pedestrians will walk past ALLOWING ME TO SAY "HI, WELCOME TO WESTCLIFFE, WHERE ARE YOU VISITING US FROM?"
OK, let's play the numbers:
· one out of ten will think I'm a grunt working for food (just look at my pic!)
· two out of ten will think I'm just a worker for the Inn
· one out of ten will realize I'm the business owner and SPEAK to me!
· three out of ten will have a polite conversation
· two out of ten will ask questions about the area; where to eat, attractions, life in general
· one out of ten will ask about real estate!
· 90% of the locals will honk or wave
BINGO! I've got a clean sidewalk and street...AND A NEW CLIENT! PROSPERITY!
And all for a $20.00 broom!
