ActiveRain Contest - 3 Things I Wish My Website Did

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty One Group - www.FindCARealEstate.com BRE# 01708749

As part of the Activerain Websitebox contest I am sharing 3 things that I wish my website did. All very doable and a plus for internet visitors.

1.      User Friendly Navigation – all navigation options should be clearly shown and users should be able to navigate the entire website in a logical manner from anywhere on my site including deep down in listing views.

 2.      Use of smart contact forms and chat – contact requests should capture the webpage and section that a user is on when submitting a contact request. This would allow me to be better prepared when calling or emailing back including customizing automated email responses. My understanding is that these form apps are available and I need to research further.

 3.      A truly integrated search experience where users can choose from an advanced/map search or a more basic classic search but the user registration and account controls are uniform across the two. I currently offer Advanced Search and a Basic Search in two products on my site and the user experience is not seamless. Finally, the search results should be gorgeous – look at any REW site and you will see gorgeous. Most sites and or IDX solutions do not display the results as well as they can and users are easily swayed by the presentation of the search results – I know I am! If they look good I come back – if they don’t I think amateur site, amateur agent.

These are some of the things I would love to see in any real estate website. If Websitebox can do this at a reasonable cost I would gladly give them a try as a standalone community site!

David, these are three very important elements that would be cool, I like the idea of a smart screen capture to see what your view is looking at when they decided to contact you. Smart lead capture, I think you're on to something! Best-Adrian

David, I am in complete agreement with you on how results are displayed.  Results should be easy to read with the most key features listing first ... price, number of bedrooms, number of bathrooms, etc.

Hi Beth - agree - #3 is probably my top priority as well - I like a good search experience and professionally presented results. The REW sites do very well in this area. Regards Dave

Hi Debbie - will look forward to seeing your wish list. Regards Dave

Hi Adrian - that lead capture with smart forms is out there - will have to try to find it and share with you. Regards Dave

Hi Kathleen - agree - if we can get visitors searching we can get them to retun if the results are killer! Regards Dave

Peronsally, I do not want a chat on our website, because that means that someone always has to be available to answer. We've got all of our sites on wordpress and manage the daily grind in house. They do fairly well on Google, and do have the other things you mention. Good luck in the contest.

Hi Barbara-Jo - Thanks for the comment and these contests are fun. Regards Dave

Hi Melissa - even though I included chat I tend to agree with you on this one. Regardless, would like to have the info that someone contacted me based on being on page xyz. I have this tracking on listing contacts but not misc pages. I run DS IDX (believe you do as well) but the two search products do not have any integration and that could be better. Regards Dave

I like your list, but because my own site recieves so much traffic chat may not be one of my choices.  The reason I say that is the nature of the internet is so anonymous that many views could view it as intrusive or an invasion of their surfing privacy.  Another thought is that too many chats at one time could be detrimental, and auto chats are like talking to a live bot.  Not very effective.  Years ago I made the choice to allow consumers to search at their own pace and not bother them unless they contact us for more information.  It seems to have worked very well.  Just my thoughts based on a lot of years online.

Hi Jim - Thanks for the comments - I agree re chat - my thoughts above were really to add the smart contact forms on all areas of the website. I don't see many sites that have it but the app is out there and reasonable. Regards Dave

MAKING YOUR REAL ESTATE DREAMS A REALITY

I have already purchased a site from WebsiteBox about a week ago. Its not running yet, but the navigation on it is pretty simple and straight forward. It does have just regular contact forms on each page....I think, and I'm not sure about the search experience....it does have an option for an advanced search. We're having problems getting my IDX up for some reason. The site itself does look nice and seems pretty good so far....I'm only had it for a week and I think they've only been in business for 2 weeks. We'll have to see what results I get from it.
