Have you ever wondered if you social media is really working? Sure, you may get a few comments or “likes” from time to time, but is spending time on social media being effective in driving new traffic to your website?
Well, thanks to Real-Time Google Analytics, you can view activity on a new tweet, Facebook post or blog post as it’s happening!
Here’s the deal:
Real-Time lets you see activity as it happens on your site with continuously updating reports! You can see how many people are on your site, their locations, what pages they’re viewing on your site and what site referred them. Because of this, whenever you post a tweet, run an ad or post on Facebook; you can see if it’s something people are interested in and interacting with on your site.
Because of this, you can start to see what people are drawn to in your posts and tweets, as well as the time of day that draws in the most interest!
Another great feature is you can see what key words are drawing visitors to your site! This is great for blogging and creating great SEO rich content on your website. Once you see what visitors are using as their key word search, you can begin to customize your website and blog to hone in on your audience!
How it works:
You’ll need to have the new version of Google Analytics to use the Real-time reports. IF you don’t currently have the new version, just go to your current Google Analytics page and click on “New Version” in the top right corner. It’s that easy!
Once you’ve updated to the new version, find the Real-Time reports in the Home tab. You’ll need to be an Administrator on your Analytics account in order to view the reports. You’ll notice that Real-Time reflects your profile date, so if anything looks wrong, you’ll need to check the filters that are being applied to your profile. (Note: When updating tracking information, you’ll need to use an unfiltered profile. It may also take a few hours to see the updates in your profile.)
Whether you’re interested in how many people are viewing your site at any given time, or you want to track your social media posts; you’ll love using Real-Time! Included in the reports are a number of other stats too, so you’ll be constantly up to date on exactly what’s going on on your website!
